Police have identified three culprits, who might be Sikh. For the president of the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC), the deed is related to upcoming elections in Delhi. In his view, "some will try to polarise the electorate along communal lines".

Mumbai (AsiaNews) - This morning, the Marian grotto in Our Lady of Grace Church in Vikaspury, a New Delhi district, was desecrated. Video security cameras show three men wearing a Sikh headgear fleeing. Police have already identified the culprits.

Church blames PM for silent approval on 'ghar wapsi'

AMRITSAR: Church on Sunday buckled up against dragging it in conversion controversy and blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi of giving silent support to RSS's ghar wapsi programme.

Church of North India, Roman Catholic Church and the Salvation Army Church threatened to take to streets if government didn't impose ban on ghar wapsi programme and take legal action against 'communal forces' who were out to convert people by force .

While addressing a joint press conference held by Diocese of Amritsar Church of North India, Diocese of Jalahdnar of the Roman Catholic Church and the Salvation Army Chruch , Bishop of Amritsar and Moderator, Church of North India, P K Samantaroy said Narendra Modi should give a clear-cut statement on the ghar wapsi programme of RSS and tell nation why government couldn't stop 'forcible' conversions. "Keeping silent on such a sensitive issue construes his silent approval," he said.
