Bishops with chief minister of Utter Pradesh-India
Lucknow: The Catholic bishops of Uttar Pradesh on April 21 called on Yogi Adiyanath, the new chief minister of the northern Indian state.“It was primarily a courtesy visit,” Father Donald de Souza, spokesperson of Lucknow diocese, informed.Yogi Adityanath, a Hindu ascetic, became chief minister of India’s most populous state on March 19 after the Bharatiya Janatya Party won the state assembly elections.

The 31 biennial plenary session of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India, the apex body of the Catholic church in India, will begin at Pala on Wednesday (5th Feb).
Apostolic Nuncio Salvatore Pinnacchio will inaugurate the eight-day conclave. Cardinal Oswald Gracias, president of CBCI, will chair the session.
The conclave will discuss the Second Vatican Council, which had called for the renewal of the church and dealt mainly with the relationship between the church and the society.
