Lucknow: The Catholic bishops of Uttar Pradesh on April 21 called on Yogi Adiyanath, the new chief minister of the northern Indian state.“It was primarily a courtesy visit,” Father Donald de Souza, spokesperson of Lucknow diocese, informed.Yogi Adityanath, a Hindu ascetic, became chief minister of India’s most populous state on March 19 after the Bharatiya Janatya Party won the state assembly elections.


Bishops’ conclave to discuss renewal of Catholic Church

Renewal is a Metanoia as per the Will of God: CBCI

The 31 biennial plenary session of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India, the apex body of the Catholic church in India, will begin at Pala on Wednesday (5th Feb).

Apostolic Nuncio Salvatore Pinnacchio will inaugurate the eight-day conclave. Cardinal Oswald Gracias, president of CBCI, will chair the session.
The conclave will discuss the Second Vatican Council, which had called for the renewal of the church and dealt mainly with the relationship between the church and the society.


GCIC condemns brutal murder of Pak's alleged blasphemy victim -

Pakistani Christians say that a Catholic businessman serving a life imprisonment for blasphemy was tortured and murdered and did not die of a heart attack as stated in a medical report.The man was found dead in his prison cell.

“Qamar David might have fallen prey to an active hate campaign going on in the country on this issue by extremist groups,” the Catholic Bishops’ National Commission for Justice and Peace NCJP suggested in an update was circulated by email on March 15 the day David, 55, died in “mysterious circumstances” in a jail in Karachi.
