When Odisha government refused NGOs and civil society to distribute the relief for Kandhamal victims & survivors, he took the matters to Supreme Court and got the state government order cancelled. On his petition, Supreme Court, earlier in the month, passed order for enhancing compensation as well as reopening of the closed 315 cases. I saluted the man, who was a friend and guide for last 25 years and had several times interactions. He made the difference in the lives of the thousand of people. We fought for justice till the end.

NEW DELHI: Expressing concern over the low rate of conviction in 2008 Kandhamal riot cases in Odisha, the Supreme Court cited on Wednesday its four-decade-old judgment that minorities are as much children of the soil as the majority, and held that members of the minority community should not be deprived of their rights to conserve their religion and culture as per the constitution of India.A bench of Chief Justice T S Thakur and Justice U U Lalit reiterated a 1974 verdict in which the apex court had batted for the rights of minority communities as granted by the Constitution."
