Hubli ( Karnataka)- 28-06-2011: Pastor M.Sandeep(28) and Brother Isaac (32) were returning to their house at Heggere in Ayodhyanagar in Old Hubli at about 11 a.m. after completing a prayer meeting at the residence of one of the members of their church, Mr. Shivanna, in Sadashivanagar Layout in Hubli. Suddenly they were surrounded by a group of about 10 Bajrang Dal activists led by the local Bajrandg Dal leader Venkatesh Arjunas Bakale, right in the middle of the road and then they began questioning them as to what they were up to in that place. They alleged them that they were converting Hindus to Christianity and began searching them for Christian literature in their bags and pockets. Then they roughed them up and began abusing them using very foul language and then they also slapped them.

After all this tragic drama right in the middle of the road at 11 in the morning in the presence of a large number of onlookers, they requisitioned the police from the Old Hubli Police Station. Police Inspector SS Chalavadi came to the spot accompanied by a couple of police constables and took them to the police station where they kept without food till 6 in the evening. It was only at 7 p.m that the police filed the FIR against them and charge-sheeted them under IPC - 34, sections - 295-A, 506, 504, 341 and 447 and were produced before the Magistrate who sent them to the Dharwad Jail. The GCIC is in touch with the concerned people and the lawyers to bail them out.
