Saturday, July 24, 2010 , Raikia: The additional sessions judge (fast track court No.1), Phulbani, Sovana Kumar Das, on Saturday acquitted nine accused due to lack of evidence .

All nine persons acquitted belongs to Baraganda village under Gochapara Police Station .They were arrested on the charges of house torching, unlawful assembly and other charges under the Riots Act consequent upon the violence during the year 2008.

Tital 891 cases were registered in connection with the violence in Kandhamal district , out of which 129 cases have been disposed of so far. Total 162 persons were convicted including five lifers and 682 persons were acquitted.
