GCIC Appeals to NCM for Security for Christian Places of Worship

Some unidentified persons on 11th August damaged the glasses covering a statue of Mother Mary on the premises of St Thomas Church at Pimple Gurav , Maharashtra

The incident which happened in the night, came to light on Thursday morning. The church’s priest, Fr Francis, has lodged a complaint at Sangavi police station in this connection.

The incident caused tension in the area and some police personnel were posted at the church to prevent any untoward incident.

Sangavi Police Inspector Shantaram Tayade said that an offence of hurting religious sentiments has been registered against unidentified persons.

Father Francis of St Thomas Catholic Church in Pimple Gurav said his church was attacked on Wednesday night and the glass around Mother Mary’s statute was broken. “I have no clue which group or person is involved in the act. But it was certainly done with a plan.”
