MYSORE: A Christian cemetery was defiled at Belawatha village on the outskirts of Mysore city and the Cross and a statue of Jesus Christ were desecrated in the early hours of Thursday.

The miscreants damaged tombstones and removed the Cross while the image of Jesus Christ at the altar was pulled down.

There were empty liquor bottles strewn around and the cemetery is located adjacent to the Mysore-Bangalore railway track and is in an isolated place.

Metagalli police have registered a case. Investigation is on.
