Carols beckon Christmas
‘Divine Incarnation,' a carol fete organised by Thiruvalla Male Voices and Choral Society, was held at Dr. Alexander Mar Thoma Auditorium in Thiruvalla on Sunday, heralding the Christmas season.Hundreds of music lovers attended the programme. Jacob Kurien, director of Thiruvalla Choral Society, led the fete that began with prayers at 6.30 p.m. Geevarghese Mar Athanaseus Episcopa delivered the Christmas message. P.O. John, Choral Society president and A.V. George, director of AVG Motors, that co-sponsored the programme, spoke. A mime, ‘Perfect Light', by Friends Chamber, Thiruvalla, and a skit by the Believers Church Theological Seminary were staged.

Students from schools and colleges, members of religious institutions, professional groups presented themselves colourfully and performed the art of singing with great passion at the 7th Mysore diocesan level carol singing competition.The event organised by the Catholic Association of Mysore at St Philomena’s high school here on Sunday provided a platform for about 80 teams — about 3,000 singers and instrumentalists — from across the city. Students were brimming with enthusiasm and confidence about their performance. They were also encouraging other participants.
The participanting teams sang about Jesus Christ, about his birth; his birth celebrations, his greatness, his humanitarian concern, etc.
