Phulbani (Orissa), Sept 28 ; A local court today sentenced a man to four years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 4,500 for setting ablaze houses of christian community during the 2008 Kandhamal riots.

Fast track court judge C R Das convicted Srikant Pradhan for torching houses at Dakingia village under G Udaygiri police station area on September 24, 2008.

In another case, fast track court judge S K Das acquitted 10 others for arson at the office of the tehsildar at Khajuripada due to lack of evidence.
The case related to the first communal riot which took place in Kandhamal district in December 2007.
