New Dghapur –Unao Dt. (UP): The Police and the Hindu Radicals in UP have ordered a devout Christian family to give up their religion and stop the prayer services in their home at Katra Divan Kheda village in New Dghapur in Unao District of U.P. We learn that Mrs.Uma, and her three grown up daughters, are being humiliated and threatened constantly by the radicals with dire consequences if they persisted upon continuing with their faith. We also learn that her husband, Pastor Om Prakash, was arrested on 13th July 2011, along with Pastors Ganga Prasad, Premshankar, Desh Kumar and Vinod for conducting the prayer meeting in their house.

However, Mrs. Uma, we understand, is determined to continue with her Christian faith along with the members of her family, whatever the consequences, in spite of her husband being arrested for conducting the prayer meeting in their house and the constant threats from the Hindu radicals and the police colluding with them. The police who ordered Mrs.Uma and her family not to follow Christianity, have, since then, banned Christian prayer service in the village, and as a consequence of which, Pastor Ganga Prasad had to shut down his New India Church of God in Katra Divan Kheda village.

The GCIC National President, Dr. Sajan K. George, along with the UP coordinator Pastor Jitendra Singh, met Pastor Ganga Prasad, Mrs. Uma and all the other arrested believers and commended them for their unflinching faith in Christ and his teachings. The GCIC is doing its best in this regard and has delegated its representatives to approach the concerned officials for the protection and restoring their right to follow their faith and has also assured them the necessary assistance in their fight for their constitutional right to practice and preach their religion.
