An unidentified man shot at a Catholic priest and seriously injured him in a Bihar town, police said Tuesday.

Father Michael Ignatius (53yrs) was shot on June 28th around 8 pm near Nazarath Hospital at Mokama, about 100 km from Patna. .

3 masked men, barged into the parochial house at Catholic Church of Mokama and shot at Fr Michael, the bullets pierced through both his arms.

Fr Michael was operated on this morning and his condition is stable and out of danger

"A person has been arrested in this connection. We are interrogating him," Superintendent of Police (Patna rural) K. Singh said.

This is not the first time when a Catholic priest has been attacked in Mokama. Nearly five years ago, Catholic priest Father Mathew Ujaytal was killed in an attack by an assailant.
