The Jesuit Priest Rev. Fr. Dr. Ambrose Pinto, a Renowned Academician and Social Activist, Passes Away
The Global Council of Indian (GCIC) is very much saddened to learn the sad demise of Rev. Fr. Dr. Ambrose Pinto, who passed away on 3rd January 2018, at the age of 67, after suffering from cancer during the last 6 months. He is an all-rounder and a greatly accomplished Jesuit priest belonging to the Karnataka Jesuit Province. He is a Karnataka Rajyothsava Award winner. A close associate of GCIC
He was an excellent educationist and disciplinarian, a great social activist and a writer too. His heart always went out to the marginalized in the society, and to the Dalits in particular. He was always actively involved in all the campaigns for the righteous causes regardless of caste, creed, religion, region or linguistic differences. He was loved and admired by all sections of people. He has an MA in Political Science and also a doctorate in the same subject from the Mangalore University.
For past many years he was the principal of some of the prestigious colleges in Bangalore like St. Joseph’s College, Bangalore, St. Joseph’s Evening College, Bangalore, St. Aloysius College, Bangalore. For some years he was also the Executive Director of the Indian Social Institute, New Delhi. Let God grant his soul eternal rest.
