MP farmers’ killing: Catholic religious join protest
New Delhi: A group of progressive Catholic religious has joined civil rights groups in India to protest the killing of farmers in Madhya Pradesh.Five farmers died and several were wounded on June 6 in Mandsaur district after police allegedly opened fire during a protest to demand better prices in the drought-ravaged region that clocks among India’s highest farm suicide rates.
Around 4:30 in the morning on Nov 20th, seven villagers from Bhitarkota came to the house of fellow villager Jeyram Khoskla, and took him from his home. He never returned. Around 1 p.m. that day, his body was found shot dead nearly 2 ½ miles from his home.
Khunti (Jharkhand), Oct 13 (PTI) A pastor of a church in Khunti district has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Sandih village of the district, the police said today.
The pastor, Chamu Hasda Purty, was gunned down late last night, Superintendent of Police Anis Gupta said here.
He said the police have identified the killers and raids were on to arrest them.
